Plaster, wood, swept floor contents. 2013. Ceramic Metal Arts Building, Seattle, WA

This piece is a documentation of the contents found on 7 different artists’ studio floors. The artist placed a frame around the swept pile and poured plaster down into the frame to contain its contents, creating a floor tile. Each composition varies, eluding to the unique history or traces of activity in each person’s space. Displayed near eye level, precariously balanced, the viewer develops concern for these contents that could easily fall down the their original place on the floor.
